ELIGIBILITY FOR MEMBERSHIP Any woman having attained her sixteenth birthday is eligible for membership, provided she is personally acceptable to DRT and is a lineal descendant of a man or woman who rendered loyal service to Texas prior to the Annexation Agreement of the Republic of Texas with the United States of America. (February 19, 1846) BECOME A MEMBER Applicants for membership to Mary Hall Mantooth will have their names submitted by the chapter registrar to the chapter membership. Upon acceptance by the membership, the registrar will work with the applicant to verify the parentage of each person from whom descent is claimed and to prove lineal descent of each generation and each date and place of birth, marriage, and death given on the application. The application will be completed by the chapter registrar using the DRT Application and Application Instructions. It will then be printed on official DRT paper. The completed application will be signed by the applicant, the Mary Hall Mantooth Chapter president, registrar and two current members. The application, one copy of the application and one copy of all "proofs" will then be submitted by the chapter registrar to the DRT State Registrar for approval. Upon approval and the signatures of the State Registrar and the President General, the original will be kept in the state DRT archives and a copy will be returned to the Mary Hall Mantooth registrar where it will be filed in the chapter archives. Prospective members need to research their lineage thoroughly enough to be aware of problems that might arise during the verification process. The genealogy application worksheet will help by reflecting the information needed for membership and can be printed and filled out by the applicant. For application instructions, click here. Member-at-large membership is generally sought by those ladies not residing near a chapter or who do not have some type of affiliation with a chapter, but who still wish to become members of the organization. The member-at-large can attend state meetings and vote but cannot hold office. Emeritus - In the event a member of 15 years or more or a charter member of her chapter is placed in a retirement home or otherwise incapacitated, and would rather not resign but finances forbid her from continuing to pay dues, she shall be maintained on DRT records as an Emeritus member until her death with all DRT Association and chapter dues waived. Written application requests shall be sent to the 2nd Vice President General. Associate - This type of membership is reserved for individuals who are ineligible for membership but who share the interests of the objectives of the organization. The associate member is limited to participation in certain chapter-level activities.
